Tidal Schuylkill Kayak Tours

This small group tour will educate paddlers on the tides, plants, animals, history and fossil fuel industry of the lower Schuylkill. See sections of the river and oil refineries only visible from on the water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and basic instruction will be provided. Make + Take: Summertime Tinctures (2018)

Being able to prepare tinctures from scratch makes herbal medicine more affordable and more convenient. This hands-on workshop will cover the ins and outs of making alcohol-based extracts of either fresh or dried plants. Everyone will go home with their own jar of a seasonal medicine and the knowledge required to make more tinctures, on your own, at home. Second Saturday Volunteer Day (2018)

We welcome volunteers on the second and fourth Saturday of most months from April to October, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Volunteers will work with our staff on seasonal tasks like weeding, planting, cleaning, pruning, and light maintenance. No special experience or skills required. Dress for working outdoors, and if you have them, bring work gloves and a water bottle. PLEASE NOTE: Each adult must register individually in order to complete the waiver.

Tuesday Member Paddle (2018)

A special benefit for members of Bartram’s Garden, this 90-minute flatwater, small-group paddle is from the Bartram’s Garden to Center City and back. Kayaks, paddles, life jackets, headlamps, and basic instruction are provided. Volunteers paddle with the group as safety boaters. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak.
