Learn how to catch one of the 42 fish species found in the tidal Schuylkill. We provide rods, bait and basic instruction. First come, first served. Supplies are limited.   No fishing license necessary, state license requirements are waived for these events. Great for youth & adults who are new or intermediate anglers.

Nature Photography Series in the Orchard

Join Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP) at Bartram’s Garden to learn the basics of nature photography! In each 3-hour, stand-alone session, instructor Joshua Lee Mallory of Noise Soul Cinema will cover shot composition, lighting, autofocus, and pro-tips for editing photos through your phone or Instagram. Tuesday Member Paddle (2018)

A special benefit for members of Bartram’s Garden, this 90-minute flatwater, small-group paddle is from the Bartram’s Garden to Center City and back. Kayaks, paddles, life jackets, headlamps, and basic instruction are provided. Volunteers paddle with the group as safety boaters. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak. Little Explorers: Apple Cider, 18th Century Style (2018)

Take a turn crushing apples in an old cider press to make fresh apple cider. Monthly program for toddlers and preschoolers ages 2-4. Each session includes activities, performances, snacks, and walks through the garden, weather permitting. Pre-registration required, one adult chaperone for every two children. Tidal Schuylkill Kayak Tours

This small group tour will educate paddlers on the tides, ecology, history, and fossil fuel industry of the lower Schuylkill. See sections of the river and oil refineries only visible from on the water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and very basic instruction will be provided. Twilight in the Garden (2018)

Twilight in the Garden is the annual gala to benefit Bartram’s Garden and the year’s largest fundraiser. Join us this fall to honor Senator Anthony H. Williams and Mr. Edward M. D’Alba for their commitment to Philadelphia’s riverfront communities. The evening will include cocktails in the historic flower garden, a starlit view of the Philadelphia skyline, and a dinner of late-summer seasonal favorites in our new hilltop pavilion.
