This small group tour will educate paddlers on the tides, ecology, history, and fossil fuel industry of the lower Schuylkill. See sections of the river and oil refineries only visible from on the water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and very basic instruction will be provided. This is a calm stretch of river, all skill levels welcome! Expect moderate physical exertion.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Children 11 years and younger are not allowed to be in a boat alone – an adult must accompany them in a tandem kayak.
Dress in clothes that will keep you warm even if they get wet; avoid cotton—wool, silk, and synthetic materials are best. Bring water to drink and a small snack. Arrive on time; we push off from the Community Boathouse promptly at 6:10 pm. Participants must register in advance and sign the liability waiver.
Cost: $10 and all proceeds go to support the work of EDGE
