Ginkgo Tree

This male tree is believed to be the oldest ginkgo, Ginkgo biloba, in North America. It was one of three original ginkgo trees sent to the US from London in 1785 by noted plant collector William Hamilton of The Woodlands. Hamilton gave one ginkgo to William Bartram and planted two at The Woodlands (located nearby at 40th & Woodland). The one at Bartram’s Garden is the sole survivor.
