Saturday Free Boating (2019) – CANCELLED

***Boating is cancelled this week due to 20-40 mph winds and sewer outfall overflows. We cancel if sustained winds are over 15mph and 24 hours after a heavy rain. Heavy rain causes the sewer outfalls in our section of the river to overflow, elevating pollution levels. See you next week on safer waters!***

Kayak or rowboat on this quiet stretch of the Schuylkill River. No registration or boating experience necessary! All ages are welcome, minors must be accompanied by an adult. We provide the boats, life jackets and basic instruction. There are trained rowers available if you would prefer to not row or paddle yourself. Kayak excursions are limited to 30 minutes, rowboat excursions limited to 45 minutes. The last boat goes out at 3pm.

We cancel in the event of rain, lightning, outfall overflows (occur for 24 hours after a heavy rain) and high wind. Check this site or our Facebook page day-of for cancellation notices.

Free Saturday Boating is at our Community Boathouse, which is located on the northern tip of Bartram’s Garden on the river. Walk past the free Parking area onto the Meadow trail, which leads downhill to the Boathouse (click here for a map).
