[CANCELLED] Urban Beauty Cabinet Workshop: Cold Process Soap 101

  • Date: April 2, 2020
  • Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Due to the unfolding situation regarding COVID-19, this program will no longer take place as scheduled, but may be rescheduled. Future programming will be assessed on a rolling basis. Please follow our Facebook page for more updates and information. See our full statement here.

Cold process soap is made by combining oils and sodium hydroxide lye, causing a chemical reaction called saponification. Melt-and-pour soap workshops generally use premade soaps that have already gone through that process—but now you can learn how to make your own soap from scratch!

This is one in a series of Urban Beauty Cabinet Make + Take workshops in the Natural Hair Care series. Each of these classes will be taught by herbalist and educator Nyambi Royster, who uses a food for beauty approach with natural ingredients and botanicals. In addition to skills learned in class, participants will take home a full size portion of the herbal preparation made in class.

$20 General Admission / $15 BG Members
$2 Southwest Philly Residents or ACCESS Card Holders (more info)
